Martin Guitars

1937 Martin 00-17, Serial number 65224

Serial number 65224 was stamped on January 7, 1937 and cleared final inspection on May 10 that year.

The neck is 1-3/4" wide at the nutĀ  with a 24.9" scale length. The straight bridge is made of Brazilian rosewood.

The tuners are Grover G-98 clipped plate machines with rounded metal buttons. This is a little surprising since this type of tuner mostly appears to have been used from 1932 to 1934.

Back and sides: Mahogany

Top: Mahogany

  1. I note the Ebony nut on this guitar. I also have a 1924 Wolverine guitar made by Martin for Grinnell Brothers that has an Ebony nut. What were the years that this wood was used in this critical location? Or was it used on the smaller guitars regardless on the year of construction?
